Concerns are mounting over the legitimacy of Fyre Festival 2 after local authorities in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, denied any knowledge of the event.

Billy McFarland, the convicted fraudster behind the original Fyre Festival disaster, announced tickets are now on sale ranging from $1,400 to $1.1 million. The festival is supposedly planned for May 30 - June 2 in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

However, Edgar Gasca from the Isla Mujeres tourism directorate states, "We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it. For us, this is an event that does not exist."

Key red flags:

  • No permits have been requested or granted
  • Local hotels listed as partners deny any involvement
  • No headliners have been confirmed
  • Festival coordinates provided point to the ocean
  • No communication with local authorities

The event producers, Lostnights, claim they are "working with local allies" and ensuring "full compliance," but local officials remain skeptical. "This festival is not going to happen. There are red flags all over the place," says Gasca.

The tourism board confirms no permits have been sought, while McFarland maintains "Fyre 2 is real" despite lacking basic governmental approvals and infrastructure arrangements that would be necessary for such an event.

These developments eerily mirror the original Fyre Festival's pattern of grand promises without proper planning or infrastructure, raising serious concerns about the legitimacy of this supposed sequel.
