Diplo Denies Revenge Porn Allegations as New Lawsuit Emerges
Diplo, the renowned DJ and producer, has addressed recent revenge porn allegations through an Instagram post, dismissing various claims circulating in the media. The response comes after a lawsuit filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe in California federal court on June 27.
Diplo responds to revenge porn accusations
The lawsuit details that Jane Doe, who was 21 at the time, began communicating with Diplo (Thomas Wesley Pentz) via Snapchat in April 2016. Their relationship, which included the exchange of intimate photos and videos, continued until October 2023. The complainant states she never consented to the recording or distribution of their intimate encounters.
In November 2023, an unknown woman contacted Jane Doe, claiming to possess intimate videos and images of her with Diplo, allegedly received via Snapchat in October 2018. This led to a criminal complaint being filed with the NYPD, which has confirmed an ongoing investigation.
The lawsuit alleges that Diplo has continued distributing these intimate materials from 2018 to present, causing the plaintiff "extreme and severe emotional distress with physical manifestations, anxiety, depression, and loss of privacy."
Diplo's attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, defended his client in a statement to Vanity Fair, suggesting this lawsuit is part of a pattern of "untrustworthy individuals" seeking financial gain through false accusations.
This case adds to Diplo's ongoing legal challenges, including a separate dispute with Shelly Auguste since 2020, which also involves revenge porn allegations. A civil trial related to these matters is scheduled for January 2025. No criminal charges have been filed against Diplo regarding these allegations.
