Combs faces serious charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Despite his legal team's efforts to secure a $50 million bail with 24-hour monitoring, the judge denied the request due to concerns about potential witness tampering.

Bankman-Fried, who was convicted for the FTX cryptocurrency exchange collapse and sentenced to 25 years, has been in the same unit since his bail was revoked last year. The former crypto executive chose to remain at MDC while pursuing his appeal.

The facility, which houses approximately 1,200 inmates, has been criticized for its poor conditions, including overcrowding and unsafe living environments. Combs's legal team has described these conditions as "horrific" for a pre-trial defendant.

Attorney Marc Agnifilo is pushing for a rapid trial progression, working to establish Combs's access to government-provided evidence while in custody. The case involves extensive evidence, including witness testimonies, photos, videos, and text messages.

Despite the challenging conditions, Combs's legal team has not yet requested a transfer from the MDC facility.
