The event, announced on February 25, aims to promote global expansion and sustainable growth of the Japanese music industry. The showcase featured prominent J-pop artists Ado, Atarashii Gakko!, and Yoasobi, with a portion of ticket sales supporting LA wildfire recovery through MusiCares.
Prior to the concert, JETRO Los Angeles hosted the Matsuri '25: JP Music Industry Mixer. Executive Director Yoshiko Tsuwaki opened the event, followed by presentations from CEIPA board member Tatsuya Nomura and Executive Director Taro Kumabe about Music Awards Japan (MAJ).
A key panel discussion, moderated by Ryan J. Downey (Billboard, MTV, Loudwire), explored Japanese artists' international success strategies. Ellen Lu, VP of Regional Festivals at Goldenvoice, highlighted a unique advantage: "Musicians from Japan are very open to working with and collaborating with anime or gaming. These artists are not just reaching fans that are music fans."
The success of Matsuri '25 demonstrates the growing global influence of Japanese artists and CEIPA's commitment to expanding Japan's music industry presence internationally.
