Brooklyn Priest Fired After Sabrina Carpenter Video Shoot Sparks Financial Investigation
A Brooklyn priest was removed from his pastoral duties after allowing Sabrina Carpenter to film her "Feather" music video at Our Lady of Mount Carmel — Annunciation Parish, leading to the discovery of serious financial misconduct.

Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello's removal came after an investigation revealed:
Unauthorized financial transfers of $1.9 million to accounts linked to Frank Carone (former NYC Mayor Eric Adams' chief of staff) Personal purchases using church credit cards Violations of diocesan policies and protocols
Bishop Robert Brennan appointed Bishop Witold Mroziewski as the new administrator with complete authority over the parish. While Gigantiello can still say Mass with approval, he has been stripped of all administrative and pastoral oversight roles.
The controversy began when Carpenter's "Feather" music video, released on Halloween 2023, showed her dancing at the church altar in a short black dress and veil. The diocese stated they were "appalled" and proper filming procedures weren't followed.
Additional findings led to the removal of a deacon who used racist and offensive language in recorded private conversations at the parish office.
The federal investigation continues, with $1 million plus 9% interest already repaid by Carone's law firm. The church has received subpoenas seeking more information about the financial dealings between Carone and Gigantiello.
