Altice USA Must Reveal Customer Data to Warner Music in Major Copyright Case
A federal court has ordered Altice USA to disclose the identities of up to 100 subscribers accused of copyright infringement by Warner Music Group (WMG) and Sony Music Entertainment (SME).

Under the court order, Altice must notify affected subscribers by today about plans to release their personal information, including names, telephone numbers, addresses, and email addresses. Subscribers have 30 days to file objections before their information is disclosed to the record labels.
This development follows a discovery breakthrough between the parties after previous delays caused by:
- Discovery disagreements regarding the BMG case materials
- Venue transfer attempts
- Dismissal efforts by Altice
- Disputes over nearly 11,000 allegedly infringed works
The trial is tentatively scheduled for September 2025. While Altice stated in its 2024 earnings report that it will "vigorously defend against the claims," similar cases suggest potential risks - notably the significant damages verdict against Cox Communications.
In a parallel case, Verizon is defending against copyright claims from all three major labels, challenging the established theory of contributory liability in November 2024.
