Using Alexa's Suno integration, users can generate complete songs with vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation by simply speaking their creative requests. The feature enables personalized musical creations, from birthday songs to character-based raps.
This partnership comes amid legal challenges for Suno, who faces lawsuits from major music labels including Sony, Universal, and Warner Music, as well as German collection society GEMA. These suits claim copyright infringement in the AI model's training data, which Suno has acknowledged likely includes copyrighted materials.
Despite legal tensions, Suno has gained support from industry figures, with Timbaland and EDM artist 3LAU joining as strategic advisors. However, the timing is notable as Amazon Music recently expanded its relationship with Universal Music, specifically addressing concerns about AI-generated content.
The Suno integration is part of a broader Alexa+ feature rollout, which includes:
- AI image generation
- New voice filters
- Enhanced smart home controls
- Uber booking capabilities
- Ticketmaster integration for event tickets
Industry sources indicate Amazon did not inform its music partners about the Suno partnership beforehand. The impact of ongoing litigation on Alexa+'s AI music features remains uncertain.
