AEG Presents has renewed its lawsuit against Young Thug, seeking information about an alleged $16 million catalog sale following the rapper's release from jail.

The lawsuit, initially filed in late 2020, claims Young Thug violated exclusive performance agreements dating back to 2016. AEG had provided a $5.25 million advance in 2017 for exclusive worldwide concert promotion rights, but alleges Young Thug and YSL Touring breached the contract by performing concerts independently and keeping all proceeds.

Key developments in the case:

  • AEG has requested new pretrial deadlines, with proposed dates throughout 2025
  • The company seeks information about Young Thug's music catalog, which was allegedly used as collateral for advances
  • Recent investigations reveal Young Thug reportedly sold approximately 400 compositions to third parties for $16 million after the lawsuit began
  • AEG is now trying to identify the current rights owners through subpoenas due in late November

The case was temporarily paused during Young Thug's criminal proceedings, which concluded with 15 years' probation and a requirement to relocate from Georgia. The parties have agreed to a three-month adjustment period for Young Thug to relocate and reconnect with his legal team before proceeding with the case.

AEG plans to either pursue claims against Young Thug, add new defendants to the lawsuit, or take separate legal action regarding the collateral, depending on the subpoena responses. The earliest potential trial date would be in late 2025, assuming no settlement is reached before then.
